Renew a Florida Driver License or Florida Identification Card
The following documentation is required to renew your Florida Driver License or Florida Identification card in our office, unless you are already REAL ID Compliant with a Gold Star in the top right corner of your current Florida Driver License or Florida Identification card. If you are changing your address during your renewal, two proofs of your new residential address will be required.For a complete list of items, click Proof of Residential Address.

A vision test will be required upon an original or renewal of a Driver License. To acquire a driver’s license in the State of Florida, a customer must pass a vision test to determine if they meet the mandatory minimum vision standards. This testing will be done in the office during your renewal transaction. For individuals not meeting the minimum vision standards a FLHSMV Report of Eye Exam Form 72010 must be completed by a licensed ophthalmologist, optometrist, or physician.
Drivers over 80 years of age must submit FLHSMV Vision Examination Form 72119 when renewing their driver license OR take and pass the vision test at our office.
Effective November 1, 2009, a Florida Driver License and Florida Identification Card may no longer be issued to the same person.
If not already Real ID Compliant or have a name changethe following documentation is required to renew your Florida Driver License or Florida Identification Card:
- United States Birth Certificate OR valid United States Passport. A birth certificate must be issued by a government agency. Hospital birth certificates cannot be accepted.
- Social Security Card or one of the following documents showing your full social security number: W-2 form, paycheck stub, or Form 1099. The name assigned to the social security number must match the name that will appear on your Florida Driver License. If you have recently changed your name, update your records with the Social Security Administration before you apply for your Florida Driver License.
- Proof of residential address requires two of the following reflecting your name and address: deed, mortgage statement, lease agreement, voter registration, vehicle registration, W2 form, 1099 form, or a homeowners, automobile, or life insurance policy. - If the documentation submitted reflects any name change, an original or certified copy of your Marriage License or Court Order must be submitted. In some instances, more than one marriage license or court order document may be required to show the chain of name changes. Photocopies cannot be accepted. Marriage license must be from a governmental agency. Church issued licenses cannot be accepted.

Renewing Florida Driver License:
Driver License renewal forms are mailed directly from the Florida Division of Driver Licenses in Tallahassee.
The renewal form will indicate whether you may renew by mail or online or if you must renew in person.
- At this time, State Policy does not permit Tax Collectors to renew Driver Licenses by mail. You may mail your renewal card and check to the Division's Tallahassee address provided on the renewal card, OR you may renew over the Internet at the web address provided on the renewal card, or through MyDMV Portal
- Further information regarding renewal by mail may be obtained from the Florida Division of Driver Licenses. Contact Customer Service at (850) 617-2000, Monday thru Friday.
- If required, you may renew in person at our office. Florida law requires an additional $6.25 service charge for renewal at any Tax Collector Office.
Renewing Florida Identification Card:
The Florida Division of Driver Licenses does not mail renewal notices for Identification Cards. Identification Cards can be renewed over Internet at MyDMV Portal or at our office. Identification Cards cannot be renewed by mail. The expiration date will be found on the card.
